    There is no natural light in the deepest part of the ocean so fish there have different ways of knowing what is going on around them．Some deep ocean fish have very large eyes which have adapted to the darkness．Other fish have feelers （触须） which help them to find food．The angler fish is so named because it has a fishingpoletype object which can move like a worm to attract prey（猎物）．
    Because there is no photosynthesis（光合作用）under the ocean，any plant matter that fish may need for nutrients has to sink down from above．On the whole，this makes deep ocean fish smaller in overall size and weight but with larger mouths than those who live higher up in shallow water．
    Many deep ocean fish have to float around waiting for something to eat to pass by．There are thousands of species of deep ocean fish and most of these are darkly colored to mix into the surroundings so as not to attract enemies．
    The further down into the ocean you go，the more you will find different kinds of fish．For example，the bottomdwelling sharks spend most of their time resting on the ocean bottom．They must keep moving at all times so that air can be forced through their lungs．They wait for their prey to come along and suddenly attack them whenever possible．If these sharks stopped swimming they would die．
