1．The turning point of my life was my decision to give up a promising career in business to study music．My parents，although sympathetic，disapproved of music as an occupation．This was understandable，I thought，in view of my family background．My grandfather taught music for nearly forty years at Spring Hill College，and it was only the threiftiness （节俭） of my grandmother that kept the wolf at bay．As a consequence，My parents insisted upon college instead of a music school．

"Enjoyed"is too mild a word．I walked on air．I really lived．I was a free man and I was doing what I loved to do and what I was meant to do．If I had stayed in business，I might be a really wealthy man today．But I do not believe I would have made a success of living．I would have given up all those inner satiosfaction that money can never buy and that are too often sacrificed when a man's primary goal is fanacial success．Money is a wonderful thing，but it is possible to pay too high a price on it．

When it was time to leave we walked outside and I noticed a muddy stream that ran beside their home．My friend said，"That is where they bathe．It is also where the animals drink and they push out waste．"
The evening I returned home I went into my perfect bathroom and twisted the hot water handle．While bathing，I thought of this simple pleasure．Clean water wasn't my right； it was luck．

Four years later my situation changed greatly．I came to the end of a twenty-year marriage．I was alone and on my own for the first time in my life．I lived in a trailer park which，at the time，I considered a real come-down，and I had to do my wash in the community laundry room．
One day，while my clothes were going around，I picked up a magazine and read an article about a woman who had been in similar circumstances．She had come to the end of a marriage，moved to a strange community，and the only job she could find was one she disliked：clothing sales in a department store．
Then something that happened to her changed everything．She said a woman came into her department store and asked her to step outside to look at a sunset．The stranger had said，"God is in his heaven and all is right with the world，"and she had realized the truth in that statement．From that moment on，she turned her life around．

Today is my Mom's birthday．
This afternoon，I went to the biggest shopping center downtown，and bought the present for her．Then I took the subway home．Sitting on the train，I thought my mum will be very happy when he saw the present．
At the next station，an old man，whom carried two heavy bag，got on the train and stood in front of me．He looked tiring．I hesitated for a moment，and then offered my seat to him．The old man thanked me for a lot and sat down．Seen his smile，I felt happily．

When one does not share nor reach out for support，he or she can remain a lonely mystery．Life can feel lonely when one keeps everything inside．Feeling alone with life problems can feel worse than the problem itself．When we let a caring person listen to our life struggle，we no longer feel alone with our struggle．Don't be afraid asking your loved ones to take time and hear you out．Sometimes you have to ask for it．People cannot read your mind．Confiding in（trust） others can have a positive effect on our mood．
