    1．Long ago，there was a young man living in a small town．He thought that he had a perfect heart．He always told the people in the town that his heart was the most beautiful．
    One day，an old man came to the town and said to the young man，"Your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine．"The young man looked at the old man's heart for a long time．It was beating strongly，but full of scars （伤痕）．The young man laughed．"You must be joking．"he said，"Compare your heart with mine，mine is perfect and yours has a lot of scars．"
    "Yes，"said the old man，"Yours is perfect looking，but I would never exchange with you．You see，although there are a lot of scars in my heart，every scar represents a person whom I have given my love．I rip a piece of my heart and give it to them，and often they give me a piece of his or hers．I fit it into the empty place in my heart．So the scars always remind me of the love I have for these people．Now，do you see what true beauty is？"
    After the young man heard of that，he stood silently with tears（眼泪） in his eyes．He walked up to the old man and ripped a piece of his perfect heart and passed it to the old man with trembling （颤抖的） hands．
    The old man took his offering，put it in his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the young man's injured heart．The young man looked at his heart，not perfect any more but more beautiful than ever．They hugged （拥抱） and walked away side by side．
