    2．Have you thought of coming to the USA as much as I have thought of coming to China？It seems that no matter what else might happen in the world，people wish to know other people．From an American's standpoint，I will tell you that most of us are very happy that your country has been allowed into the WTO．We are also happy that you successfully hosted the 2008Olympics．Between the two of these things I believe that China shall become one of the greatest places around the world to do business and visit with．
    I know that some of you might have a very dramatic（夸张的） view of the way America is．So you know，we are a society of people that are run by and governed by money．People who are elected to office in our country are done so because they have the money to pay for a campaign （竞选运动）．I think no matter where a person lives in the world，they wish for the same things．If you think you can come over here and make something of yourself，you are right．I believe I can come to your country and make something of myself，too．
    We are all the same around the world，you see．Some of us are made to lead，while others of us are made to follow．Here in the United States we could not live the way we do if there were not those of us who do the work that is needed at the bottom of the ladder．Just as in China，we have those who must be the street cleaners，the bakers，the farmers，and all the other jobs that must be done．Like China also，most of us wish we were someplace further up the ladder； maybe a manager of a big company，maybe a famous doctor or actor．The streets are not paved with gold in the United States．It does take hard work to make it．
    I would like to tell you all that we do not carry any prejudicetowards you．Your people and your culture are much respected throughout the United States．You are known as an intelligent and resourceful （机智的） people．I hope someday that our country will be open enough that travel between them will be like travel between the United States and Europe．

    Better health is one reason that people choose to become vegetarians．Another reason is religion （宗教）．Eating of meat is never allowed in some religions．The largest of these is the Hindu religion，which has about 600million believers in the world．Although not all Hindus are vegetarian，many are，and there are many believers of other religions，such as Buddhism and even some Christian religions that also do not eat meat．
    Many vegetarians do not eat meat simply because they do not like the taste of it．They have no religious or other reasons； they just do not like meat．Another important reason that vegetarians give for not eating meat is the health advantages that were given above．Lastly，there are many people who do not eat meat because they just do not like the idea of killing animals for food．They believe that life，all life，is valuable and that we do not have to destroy life to feed ourselves when there are other good sources of food．
