三、阅读理解。
I was a bit nervous about a holiday at Monkton Wyld. “We all sleep in one room—including the children，the food is vegetarian（素的） only，and we do our own dishes?” I asked my wife.
“That's right，” she said.
“But we need a holiday,” I said.
Two months later we were on a train to Monkton Wyld. I was reading about it on my phone. The house was built in 1848 and since then，it had been a hotel，a school and now it is an education centre.
We were going on a “Family Week” with our two children. We arrived at night and enjoyed a nice dinner I liked. All the vegetables were from the garden of the house. Soon I was feeling a lot happier about the week ahead.
The house was run by 12 people who lived here. There were also volunteers who came and stayed at the house for a week just to work in the garden or help with the cooking. Some of the families had been coming to Monkton Wyld for several years—it had become a ritual for them. They were patient with all my questions about the place. Later，we were playing games in the large living room. It already felt like these people were old friends.
Over the next week，we really had a week of “family fun”. We painted. We sang. We made things. And best of all，the children were outside almost the whole time—away from phones，TVs and so on.
