16.It's Nice to be Home
(36)A I have been fortunate enough to make trips to many countries.They were wonderful adventures filled with new sights and experiences.And my wife and I have another trip in the planning stages.
We're home now and have settled back into our daily routine of life.(37)E I find that when I am at home,particularly for a while when we have just returned from a trip,I feel very comfortable.Perhaps it is because everything around me is familiar and the daily routine is so much the same I can move through it almost without thinking.(38)D Perhaps it is because we can have meals at home instead of always being in restaurants,although it's nice to let someone else do the cooking,and because I can sleep in my own bed.There are times I think it would be nice to simply stop travelling and stay home and I'm stile I would be very comfortable if that were to happen.(39)C
Yet I guess I am probably a restless soul because I know that after I have been home for a while I will start to think about other places we might go and other things we want to see.We will travel again and we feel fortunate to be able to do so.(40)F Still,one of the best things about travelling for me is coming home.I'm very comfortable here at home even if it is difficult to say exactly why.

A.I like to travel very much.
B.I enjoy local food while travelling.
C.I like being home,for whatever reason.
D.Perhaps it is because our friends are here.
E.And I enjoy my daily life at home so much.
F.We want to see as much of the world as we can.
G.It's lucky that my wife and I both love travelling.

分析 本文作者通过讲述自己旅行之后回到家后的舒服感觉,阐述了自己对于这种感觉的理解,表达了自己对于呆在家里的感觉的喜欢.

解答 36-40 AEDCF
36.A 根据句子I have been fortunate enough to make trips to many countries,及本段主要内容为讲述我和妻子对旅行的热爱,故选A.
37.E 本段主要讲述了作者在家里的感受及作者对这种感觉的喜爱,空处选总起表达作者对在家生活热爱的句子符合句意,故选E.
38.D 根据上下文中都提到的Perhaps it is because,讲述了作者对家的感觉喜爱的原因,故选D.

11.I stole your dog today.No,I didn't set a foot on your house,but from the condition of your dog,I can imagine what it looks like…the word"rubbish"comes to mind.
I found her along a road,with a heavy chain wrapped around her neck,still attached to rotten boards from her doghouse.Not only did I know that most of the town people had already ignored her,judging by where I found her,but I knew that if she had gotten into the Woods,the"cross"that she dragged behind her would have wrapped around a tree until starvation or thirst killed her.She has a beautiful name now.Already in the first week she has come to look more like she should.Her eyes sparkle and she has learned to wag her tail in greeting.She has stopped flinching (畏缩) when I make a sudden movement,because she knows now that I won't beat her,in fact,she rarely leaves my side.She's even become brave enough to bark at a cat and today I watched from the window as she attempted to play with the other dogs.No,it's clear she does not miss you or her former life on a chain.
It's not clear yet whether she'll remain here or whether I'll find her a loving home where she can count on more individual attention than I can give her,but one thing is certain,this is one bit of stolen"property"who is never returning to you.So sue me,accuse me,plead with the courts that she is rightfully yours…I'm convinced this is the best"crime"I've ever committed.Hardly anything has pleased me more than the day I stole your dog.I need only look into her beautiful brown eyes to know that she'd defend my decision with her life.If we have one prayer,it is that you will not replace her,and if we have one special day to celebrate together,it is the day I stole your dog and the day she stole my heart.

One night, when I was eight, my mother gently asked me a question I would never forget. “Sweetie, my company wants to me but needs me to work in Brazil. This is like your teacher telling that you’ve done and allowing you to skip a grade(跳级), but you’ll have to your friends. Would you say yes to your teacher?” She gave me a hug and asked me to think about it. I was puzzled. The question kept me for the rest of the night. I had said “yes” but for the first time, I realized the decisions adults had to make.

For almost four years, my mother would call us from Brazil every day. Every evening I’d wait for the phone to ring and then tell her every detail of my day. A phone call, however, could never replace her and it was difficult not to feel lonely at times.

During my fourth-grade Christmas break, we flew to Rio to visit her. Looking at her large apartment, I became how lonely my mother must have been in Brazil herself. It was then I started to appreciate the tough choices she had to make on family and work. difficult decisions, she used to tell me, you wouldn’t know whether you make the right choice, but you could always make the best out of the situation, with passion and a attitude.

Back home, I myself that what my mother could do, I could, too. If she to live in Rio all by herself, I, too, could learn to be . I learn how to take care of myself and set high but achievable .

My mother is now back with us. But I will never forget what the has really taught me. Sacrifices in the end. The separation between us has proved to be for me.
