Itzhak Perlman, a famous violinist, came on stage to give a concert. He was stricken with polio(小儿麻痹症)as a child, so getting on stage is no small 【1】 (achieve).
The audience sat quietly while he made his way across the stage 【2】 his chair and began his play. But this time, 【3】 went wrong. Just as he finished the first part, one of the strings on his violin 【4】(break). We thought that he would have to stop the concert. But he didn’t. 【5】, he waited a moment, closed his eyes and then signaled the conductor to begin again.
【6】 (power) and pure, his performance attracted all the attention.
Of course, anyone believes 【7】 impossible to play a harmonious work with just three strings. I know that, and you know that, but that night Itzhak Perlman refused 【8】 (know) that.
When he finished, people rose and cheered.
【9】 (smile), he wiped the sweat and said, “You know, sometimes it is the artist’s task to find out how much music you can still make with 【10】 you have left.”
【1】achievement
【2】to/ towards/toward
【3】something
【4】broke
【5】Instead/ Actually
【6】Powerful
【7】it
【8】to know
【9】Smiling
【10】what
no+单数名词=not a+单数名词。
【2】to/ towards/toward考查介词。 make one’s way to /towards …
从本题的前后意思判断是转折关系,故可以用instead/actually。
_6____ (power) and pure, his performance attracted…

How to Draw a Mind Map
Mind mapping relates to writing down a central idea and thinking up new and relevant ideas which radiate out from the center.
Look for relationships
Use lines, colors, arrows, branches or other ways of showing connections between ideas on your mind map.【1】. Personalizing the map with your own symbols and designs will assist in your recall and understanding.
【2】
All of these things promote linear(线性的)thinking while the idea of mind mapping is to think creatively and in anon-linear manner. There will be plenty of time for polishing the information later on. But at this stage, the most important thing is to get every possibility into the mind map that may be the key to your knowledge of a topic.
Write down key ideas
Some students find that using capital letters encourages them to get down only the key points. 【3】.You may, however, wish to write down some explanatory notes in lower cases. Some students do this when they revisit the mind map at a later date while others write such things as assessment criteria in this way.
Put the main idea in the center
Most students find it useful to turn their page on the side and do a mind map in “landscape” style. They put the main idea or topic in the middle of the page. 【4】.
Leave lots of space
【5】.After the initial drawing of the mind map you may wish to highlight things, add related information or questions right up.
A.Capitals are also easier to read in a diagram

【题目】“People are ruder today because they are rushed and more ‘time poor’ than ever before,” says Patsy Rowe, “Manners have fallen off the radar(雷达).” Due to our strong attraction to electronic equipment it is a wonder more people don’t wake up each morning and greet the singing birds with a complaint about the noise. Here are some examples of rudeness.
Some people prefer to do almost everything over the internet. To them, dealing with an actual human is like an evolutionary step backward. It feels very slow because humans don’t work at 4G speeds. When you have dinner with friends, you will often notice someone paying more attention to his mobile phone. We have programmed ourselves to think that every new message brings life-changing news, so taking calls and checking our texts are more important than talking to the people we are with. What is worse, some people even tend to send anonymous(匿名的) rude messages by email.
However, rudeness is never acceptable. Don’t assume it is OK to be rude if the person you’re in touch with won’t recognize you. If you have something awful to say, have the courage to face the person and say it, write a letter or email and sign it, or forget it. Upsetting people with unsigned messages is cruel and annoying.
We shouldn’t blame technology for our shortcomings. Technology is here to help us, but we should not allow it to take over our lives. An important step is admitting our shortcomings. People spend a lot of time pointing out bad manners but it would be even more helpful if we’d publicly recognize good manners when we see them.
【1】What can be inferred from the underlined sentence in Paragraph 1?
A. People can tell good from bad behavior.
B. Radar is able to observe human behavior.
C. People care little about their behavior.
D. Radar can be used to predict human behavior.
【2】Some people are less willing to deal with humans because ________.
A. they are becoming less patient
B. they are growing too independent
C. they have to handle many important messages
D. they have to follow an evolutionary step backward
【3】The author thinks sending unsigned awful messages is ________.
A. ridiculousB. hatefulC. acceptableD. reasonable
【4】What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A. We should praise good behavior.
B. Technology can never be blamed.
C. We should keep pointing out mistakes.
D. Technology will take over our lives one day.

The other day, I was invited my friend Sam’s home for dinner. I felt a bit surprising when I saw Bill there. It was two month since we two had quarreled, so I was embarrassed and didn’t know how to do. I sat down on the sofa but began to watch TV. Later Sam came to ask me to make up with Bill. Until then I realize that Sam had arranged the meeting on purpose. He went up to Bill and greeted him warmly, smiled at him. He looked very happily and talked with me excitedly. That night, we had a great fun together.

There are too many cars in our town now. For a result, there are lots of traffic jams, and the air which we will breathe is terrible. Our town is very old but all the streets are quite narrow, so there is no room for bus lanes, which mean that buses always get stuck in the traffic jams, too. However, lots of accidents with cyclists often happen because of crowded street. But I think there is a simple solution of these problems. The government should close city center to all traffic except buses and bikes, and build very larger car parks outside the town. Car drivers can take a bus into the city center and arrive at work or the shops relaxing and in a good mood.
